Patti and I rode tricycles together when we met at the age of 3. I used to love playing in her backyard. I never went to her front door. I just walked down the alley and hopped the fence into her backyard. Patti loved coming over to our house to eat my Daddy's famous "beans and cornbread." Her, Curtis Clark, and I spent almost every day playing together. Then one day around the age of 5 or 6, she just up and moved away. Curtis and I were lost without her. She was our leader. It was our first experience at losing a friend. I never saw her again until the first day of school in the 9th grade at Tom Browne ...
