Steven Lawrence Blount, age
58, was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 12, 1949 and passed away at M. D.
Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas on December 8, 2007 after a lengthy illness.
Steve retired from Celanese Chemical Research Center in Corpus Christi, Texas in
2003.
He was an avid hunter who traveled often to Canada for hunts. He enjoyed halter
horses and raised Registered Paints and American Quarter horses over the years.
He is most remembered for his gift of gab and love of his family. Steve and wife
Suzanne moved to Montgomery, Texas area in July to be close to their children.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Blount of Tyler, Texas. His
survivors are wife, Suzanne Gregory Blount of Montgomery; mother, Doris Bryden
Blount of Edmond, Oklahoma; children, Chris Blount, Brandi Bell and husband Sam,
Brandon Blount and fiance Stevi Humphreys all of Houston, Texas; grandson,
Christopher Blount of Corpus Christi. Steve is also survived by step children
and grandchildren all of Houston; Greg Paslay and wife Angela, Gena Fendley and
husband Todd, and grandchildren, Madeline Paslay, Mason Paslay and Austin
Fendley.
Steve was the oldest of five boys and was cherished by his brothers, Jeff
Blount, wife Sharon of Edmond, Oklahoma, Pat Blount, wife Vicki of Guthrie,
Oklahoma, Joe Blount, wife Cyndi of Houston, and Jim Blount, wife Elizabeth of
Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his dear friend and childrens mother,
Kathleen Blount of Hondo, Texas.
Steves friends, Tammy and Bryan Montgomery have been at his side with assistance
with ranching and horse care throughout his illness. Steve was adored by his
nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to recognize all the Doctors and caregivers at M. D. Anderson
Hospital. Our heartfelt thanks are extended to Dr. Eddie Abdalla, Dr. Diego
Villalobos, and Dr. George Chang. With these great physicians, Steve lived
longer than expected.
Funeral services conducted by Mr. Patrick Blount will be held on Tuesday,
December 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home,
Montgomery, Texas. Interment immediately following the service at Smith Memorial
Park Cemetery, Willis, Texas, FM 1097, Willis, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request any donations in Steves
name be sent to M. D. Anderson Hospital, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas
