Jeannie Jones De La Garza from The Class of '71 passed away on June 1st ...

 

Ella Jeanette Jones De La Garza went to be with the her Jesus and receive her eternal reward on Sunday, June 1, 2008 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She passed away at her home, where she wanted to be. Jeannie left this earth a better place with her love and kindness. Jeannie was born on August 6, 1953 to Ellsworth and Jo Ann Jones and raised in Kansas. She married her husband of 36 years on December 29, 1971. Jeannie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, and friend. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1971. Jeannie enjoyed participation in all things concerning her family, those in need, as well as the women’s ministry at Bay Area Fellowship.

She will be forever remembered for her extreme love and devotion to Jesus, her best friend. Jeannie’s life revolved around her family and she made every gathering joyous. She was the absolute center of her family, and gave immense joy to all around her. Jeannie’s heart beat for those hurting and she is remembered for a multitude of gracious acts. She also loved to read and was a published author.

Besides the Bible, her favorite author was C.S. Lewis. Jeannie is preceded in death by her brother, Michael Shayne Jones, grandparents, Ruby Molter, Inez Jones, Delbert Long, Frank Molter and Anita Long.

Jeannie is survived by her devoted and adored husband, Juan Manuel De La Garza, her adoring three children: Tammi Jeanette Slavin, Laura Anne Emmons, James Manuel De La Garza; her beloved sons-in-law, Jesse J. Slavin and Erik D. Emmons; the light of her life, her five grandchildren, Briannah Jeanette Slavin, Richard James Slavin, Shane Jon-David Slavin, Lucas David Emmons and unborn E. Manuel Emmons; her cherished parents, Ellsworth E. Jones and Jo Ann Jones; her beloved siblings, Scott Hammett and Pamela Jones; her loving mother-in-law, Esparanza De La Garza; sisters-in-law, Mary Kreitzinger, Martha Bayless and brother-in-law, Henry De La Garza; she is also survived by nine nephews and five nieces. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James De La Garza, Jesse Slavin, Erik Emmons, John Manley, Joel Manley and Michael Jones
