Hi.

You folks are something else.  I saw the name tag several of ya’ll wore.

Thank you, one and all for thinking of me.  Believe it or not, I was thinking

about all of you too and how I wished I could have stayed for Saturday nig ht.

How about we make a date to meet again next year in June and go

“Cruisin’ with the class of ’70”.  I’m ready.  Just let me know what boat and what day.

The Class of '69 has "too much soul"

  Gary Dycus

Walking into Dr Rockit’s and being warmly greeted by my classmates, reminded me of words in the “Cheers” theme song…

  “Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came”.

Where else can you get that kind of reception and I saw it happen again and again each time the door opened.

 It was great!

The 69 Reunion was a very warm gathering of old friends and funny stories. Cathy and I had a ball.

Thank you to all of those spouses and friends for enduring while the Graduates of 69 laughed and talked till we were hoarse…at least I was.

Till next time…

Billy Lee

Dear Class of 69 and friends,

On both Friday and Saturday nights of the reunion, I took a few minutes to sit back and observe. What I saw was a room full of happy, smiling, pushing 60 years of age adults sharing memories of their youth. Maybe it was an 8th grade crush, the fastest car, a high school prank, a broken heart, a best friend in elementary school, or a classmate who is gone. We all shared a special moment and memory with many who touched our lives in childhood.

We have come a long way my friends. We have married, divorced, buried, raised our children, bragged on our grandchildren, cried for those we have lost. This past weekend brought us all new friends, smiles and memories. I pray we can continue to share these for many years to come.

If you missed the reunion, you were truly missed.

I thank you all for the love, support, laughter and blessings you brought into my life this weekend. My only regret is that there was not enough time to visit with each and every one of you.

I pray you all arrived home safely. Please keep in touch with me and each other.

Blessings,
Linda Higgins Granberry

"Thank You" to everyone that contributed their time, energy and love for "The Class of '69's 40th Reunion - Event".  It was indeed a grand event for me to have shared it with my sisters, who are my best friends.  The siblings participation for me, was very touching and special.  I loved sharing the evening with Everyone, as the spirit of friendship and love for one another was very apparent.  It was great fun, and again...thanks to the "Planning Team" that made it happen.  You all did a fantastic job!  The web site has brought so much joy and has provided a place to share our common ground.  Thank you!

Very warmly, LaRue Hodgens Saenz "69

"Why I wasn't at the 40th reunion ---- Cabo San Lucas, Mexico --- I missed you all!"

"OMG! I just saw the beautiful tribute to my Daddy. Thanks so much to whomever did this. That display of pictures brings back too many old memories ... Daddy would be proud; he always was. I am so touched and appreciative for him to be remembered. God bless"
Susan

PS  "I had to send a picture of Daddy. Thanks again so much for the tribute to him. He loved Carroll and continued to attend all home football, basketball, and baseball games up until he died. He also went to all the Booster Club meetings."

Thanks, Susan

"Hey Ya'll.  Had a great time! Wish I could have stayed for Saturday night. Thanks for the FUN! "

... the following is from Mrs. Sheri Stokley ...

Earlier this month my husband and I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to "crash" the Class of 1969 Reunion. I was told about the reunion in a chance meeting with Nancy and Dusty Adams at a local restaurant some months prior to Saturday, June 6. I put the date on my calendar, not really thinking I would attend.

What a warm welcome we received! It was a bonus to see a few students from graduating classes other than 1969. The name tags sparked my memory of those I had the pleasure of teaching, as well as others whom I knew by reputation. So many at the reunion were, of course, active leaders on campus. I'll admit identification was difficult at times. Every time I turned around there was the Gary Dycus name tag; but alas, no Gary.

My psychology "kids" at the reunion lifted my spirits and reaffirmed the decision I made in the second grade to be a school teacher. Looking back, I realize that I learned as much from you as I hope you did from me. I always wanted my classes to be challenging, but fun.  One of my classes was either so challenging or so much fun that one former student greeted me with, "I loved your mathematics class!" ( P.S. ...She was still having fun on Saturday night! ) My teacher friends would have loved this story since they knew even averaging grades was a stretch of my mathematical ability. Do you suppose I inadvertently passed her?

It is amazing what one remembers as far back as high school. The stories you told me of things that happened in class or how your lives were changed for the better through your experiences at Mary Carroll were heartwarming. Your positive comments about so many of my colleagues were appreciated. Even at age "sixty-ten", I have fond memories of students and staff during my days at Mary Carroll High School from 1963-1978.

The last twenty years of my career were spent in administration. After thirty-eight years with CCISD, I took  "very early" retirement in 1998. After the turn of the century, our two children gave us the joy of a lifetime--three beautiful grandchildren. Life is great!

Yes, the Class of 1969 is special to me. As Senior Class sponsors, Mr. Phillip Massey and I were so glad you chose Ronnie Krnavek as president of the class. He made our sponsorship easy because he was a leader in every sense of the word. Ronnie, and all others listed in the obituary section on your excellent web site, will not be forgotten. My husband and I add our voices to the tribute to everyone's friend, Mr. J.D. Brice.

I never dreamed I would get to see a select group of Carroll graduates after forty years. The short time spent with you was enjoyable, but it didn't allow me to learn about the highlights of your lives thus far. After the reunion I was motivated to look at the web site and also to find my old "Walraven Wonders", the award-winning yearbooks from the sixties and seventies. As I turned the musty ( sad, but true) pages, my thoughts were,"Ain't it funny how time slips away" and "Oh, I wonder what happened to her/him."  Reunion attendee or not, please feel free to E-mail me at Stokley3@aol.com to share information and bring me up-to-date.

Keep loving yourselves and others. Keep America in your prayers. Stand up for your beliefs. Vaya con Dios. I know you enjoyed THE sixties; now plan on enjoying YOUR sixties!!

Thanks for the memories,
Sheri Stokley

 To my classmates,

Thanks to all who worked so hard to make our 40th so special.

I left Carroll "running" and I'm sorry I took 40 years to look back.

I've had a life filled with memorable experiences, but the reunion will be one of the best.

It reminded me of all the pranks, laughs and tears we shared as kids. I only wish all those that have passed could have been there.

It was worth much more than the 4 day, $1000.00 and 2408.7 mile trip on the Harley to see you all again.

By the way, does anybody know who Gary Dycus is, and why does everybody want to be him?

Hope to meet again before the next 5 years.
