The Stardust Rollercade originally opened as an ice skating rink, then became a roller skating rink that put Gulf Skating Rink (which was near the corner of Lexington BLVD & Kostoryz) out of business. Under the management of Tommy Smith, Stardust became "the place to go" for Friday and Saturday nite dances starting in 1967.  Most of the great "garage bands" in the area played there ...
